The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility recently hosted a “How Much Do You Know About H2O” Student Artwork Contest for students from Lincoln School, Evansville Day School, and Signature School. Entrants were invited to submit artwork that depicts the importance of water in everyday life.
Entries were posted online by the Utility and the community voted for their favorites. The top 12 entries, as determined by the online voters and the Utility selection committee, will be featured on a water-themed calendar.
Winners were announced at the Donohue-designed Sunrise Pump Station. Donohue’s Emily Wehmeyer (pictured below left) and Tracy Williams attended the May recognition ceremony. To support the goal of increasing students’ awareness of current water-related opportunities and challenges, Donohue sponsored prizes for the top winners.
Norah Ahmed (Evansville Day School) received a $200 gift card for her winning entry. She was also selected as the Mayor’s Choice winner and her artwork will be featured on the calendar’s cover.
All of the students who entered created thought-provoking pieces and it was exciting to see their enthusiasm for water!
